Privacy Policy
Alfred’s Bar works on your iPhone. There is no account, no advertising and no tracking, and what you tell the app stays on your phone.
Who we are
Alfred’s Bar is published by Filipe Kotleski Moreira, an individual developer based in Brazil (“we”, “us”). We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy and are responsible for it. Our contact for any question or request about your information, including data protection requests, is [email protected].
In short
- No account. There is nothing to sign up for or sign in to.
- Your information stays on your iPhone. Your bar, tastes, ratings and collection are stored by the app on your device. We don’t receive them.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking in the app or on this website. This website sets no cookies of its own.
- No device permissions. The app doesn’t ask for your camera, photos, location, contacts, microphone or notifications.
- We don’t sell or share personal information.
What the app keeps on your iPhone
So that it can work and remember your choices, the app stores the following in its private storage on your device:
- Your bar: the ingredients you mark as owned.
- Your tastes: the flavours, spirits and strength you prefer, how adventurous you like suggestions to be, ingredients you want to avoid, your measurement units (millilitres or ounces), and whether zero-proof mode is on.
- Your collection: your favourites and the drinks you’ve tried. For each tried drink: when you first and last tried it, how many times you made or logged it, and your star rating with the date you set it. The dates are used only to sort your collection.
- Your last “Ask Alfred” answers, so you can start from them next time.
- Safety copies that protect your data: the data a restore replaced (so the restore can be undone), a one-time copy kept when the app upgrades how it stores data, and a copy of anything the app couldn’t read, so it is never silently lost.
Confirming that you are of legal drinking age stores no birth date or age, only that you completed that step.
Recommendations, Taste Match and Ask Alfred are calculated on your iPhone from this information. They are never sent to us.
Like other app data, this information may be included in your iPhone’s own backups (for example iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer), under your device settings. Those backups are handled by Apple or your computer, not by us.
Backups and deleting
- Export: in Menu → Your data, you can export a backup file containing the information above, the date of export and the app version. The app hands it to your iPhone’s share sheet, and it goes only where you choose. We never receive it. Anyone you share the file with can read it.
- Restore: when you restore a backup, the app checks the file, keeps your current data on the phone so the restore can be undone, and then replaces it.
- Reset all data erases your bar, tastes, favourites, tried drinks and ratings and starts the app again. It does not remove the safety copies or your last Ask Alfred answers. Copies of data the app couldn’t read can be deleted one by one on the same screen.
- Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your iPhone. Copies in your device backups or in backup files you exported stay until you delete them.
What we receive
The app makes no network requests of its own, so we receive nothing from your use of the app. When you tap a link in the app (our support address, this policy or the terms), your iPhone opens your email app or browser, and the terms of those apps apply.
If you have chosen, in your iPhone’s settings, to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with crash reports and aggregated statistics about the app (such as installs and usage) in a form that does not identify you personally. This is controlled by Apple and by your settings, not by the app.
This website
- This website sets no cookies of its own, has no forms, and uses no analytics or tracking. Its fonts and images are served from the site itself, so your browser doesn’t contact any other service to show it.
- If Cloudflare’s bot protection is active, Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to tell people and automated traffic apart. It is not used for tracking or advertising.
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse, as described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
When you email us
If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. We use them only to answer you and to fix what you report. Messages are forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to the mailbox we use to reply. We keep support emails only as long as we need them to answer you and handle any follow-up, and we review and delete old messages periodically. You can ask us to delete your messages at any time.
Please don’t send backup files unless we ask for one: they contain your bar, tastes and ratings.
We handle your email to answer the request you sent us and, where you report a problem, in our legitimate interest in fixing it. Cloudflare (which hosts this website and forwards our email) and our email provider may process this information on servers outside Brazil, including in the United States.
Paid features
Alfred’s Bar does not sell anything yet. Before any paid feature or subscription is offered, we will update this policy to explain exactly what is shared to process and verify purchases. Payments in the app will always be handled by Apple; we will never receive your card details.
Children
Alfred’s Bar is for adults of legal drinking age where they live. It isn’t directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under that age.
Your choices and rights
The app’s information is on your iPhone, and you can view, export or erase it at any time in the app. If you’ve emailed us, you can ask us to access, correct or delete your messages at [email protected]. Under Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD), you can ask us to confirm whether we hold your information, to access, correct, anonymise, delete or port it, and to tell you who it has been shared with; you can also complain to the Brazilian data protection authority (ANPD). If you live elsewhere, for example in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have similar rights under your local law, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the effective date at the top. For significant changes, we’ll also tell you in the app before they take effect.
